It’s a tough job.

January 2011 has been a rotten month.  Many police officers killed in the line of duty from gunfire.  People constantly cry about police, whether they hang out at the coffee shop too long, stop many cars and issue tickets, arrest a lot of people or have a “bad attitude”.  Granted some cops out there are a little on the abrasive side but the fact of the matter is, we all bleed blue and we all deal with the same garbage.

“That stuff never happens in this little town.”  This statement fires me up.  It does happen in small towns.  It will happen in small towns but until that particular town faces a tragedy of a large caliber they will continue to be naive.  I have seen countless patrol car videos of police officers on simple traffic stops for minor issues and the scum bag driver gets out and opens fire on the officer.  Or while speaking to them, they pull a gun and kill them.  All too often this happens and this is what I wish people would understand.

When a police officer stops you, he has no idea who your are, what your life problems are like, what your mental state is etc.  We are there to do a job whether it is write a ticket for speeding, let you know a tail lamp is out, we found a traffic warrant, your vehicle matched a description of possible missing person and so on.

The fact that these animals are that heartless to take a life one who has a family in the background, sons, daughters, friends, mothers fathers and others that love and depend on them and who are waiting for them to get home and without remorse take their life and everything behind it.

It’s a shame I cannot reveal my identity on here, it would make things much easier but it is against my departments policy AND I get to deal with the anonymous cowards that hide behind their computer screen.  A police officer in this county was heartlessly executed when he pulled up to a subject that matched a description of a warrant.  Before the officer even exited his vehicle this animal pulled a gun and fired into the vehicle.  As if that wasn’t enough he fired two more rounds into the officers head before fleeing.  The officer bled to death and left a fiancee, family and friends.  Look beyond the uniform and the shield, we are people, we have families and hobbies, pet-peeves and ethics.  We have a job to do, an oath to uphold and that is why we do it.

Watch the video below labeled “Tough Job” , these things happen, this is what we deal with.  Just because you may not ‘hear’ about something doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
